Nollywood actor and comedian John Okafor is often called Mr. Ibu as a reference to his most famous and successful movie role. The actor was born on October 17, 1960, in Umunekwu village in Eziokwe, Nkanu local government area of Enugu State. He comes from a large family and has 4 brothers and 3 sisters. After he lost father at the age of 15, Okafor had to earn his living by doing various odd jobs, such as selling firewood, hair dressing and butchering animals. Mr. Okafor is a graduate of Mass Communication from the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu. He is married with children. In 2004, he rose to fame as the main character Mr. Ibu from the eponymous film, and has since starred in numerous sequels (Mr.Ibu in London (2004), Ibu in Prison (2006)). His filmography includes over 70 movies (Police Recruit (2003), 9 Wives (2005), Keziah (2007)). In some of them, he also has served as a writer and producer. Mr. Okafor has established himself as one of the most talented comic characters in the Nollywood industry through his distinctive humour.
